Not sure if the title has anything to really do with what this is all about, but still this is BIG news from yours truly. Plus I guess I just love to torture myself with these kinds of things.

For a while now, I have been struggling with how to show my gratitude to my watchers and newly acquainted friends who have enjoyed my fics. It's easy for artists, because they can simply draw whatever they wish, granting their fans instant view of what they've done. Same with flash animators. But what about us fan fic writers? What can we do to show our fans that they have been such a huge inspiration? Why, by writing using their inspiration!

Let me explain. I'm sure most of you by now know of the "Ask Pony X Tumblrs", right? Where the artists are able to interact with their fans by answering their questions. It's really cool, but that just doesn't work for fan fics. So what do we do then, hm? Well, it came to me last night on my paper route. If you follow any of the Tumblrs, and I mean ANY of them, then you of course know of "Moon Stuck" by Egophilliac, telling the adventures of Woona on the moon. She does this by allowing her fans to make up what happens next, or choose what happens if given a choice. Now, things have been done similar in comics (Ctr Alt Del has done this a few times) where they allow the fans to choose which option they go.

Again, it works in fan fics too, BUT, it still relies heavily on the author to then continue the story. That, in turn, puts a large burden on the author and he/she/it/zerg must then keep going, and try to make up ideas on the fly. Some authors can do it, others can't. I myself probably could, but this idea, no matter how good it sounds, still doesn't offer much creativity from the fans. And that, my friends, is what I'm aiming for. I want to do a project that gives the readers, the fans of our work, their time to shine. Deep down, everyone has an idea for a story. Or random thoughts of "This would be funny in a fic." I have them constantly, and I'm sure you all do too.

So that is what I want to exploit. What I want to do, is set up a challenge. It's something that is simple, yet effective at giving the author and his/her readers some "bonding" time through words.

So this is the idea: Several mini-fic segments all smashed together to make one large, yet epic one shot fan fic.

No "readers choose an option, then author does it" kind of thing. You readers, as many as each fic can allow, will actually write parts of the fic, which will then all be combined by the main author using our own writing skill, and then made into a grand fic of epicness. If you choose to participate, this is how it's going to go down.

You must write a 250 to 500 word "segment" of a fan fic, going by specified rules/regulations given by the main author. You can execute it however you wish, so long as it sticks to the guidelines given by the main author. Then, the author will choose a specific number of these and make a fic out of them. Now, a very important part of this is the author not take the ideas, but the actual written piece itself and just throw it in.

Now, of course some of you aren't the best at grammar and spelling (I know I'm not), so we authors will have to make some appropriate changes. But we are to expect that you take your time with this and do your best to write as correctly as possible. My idea is that once the guidelines are given, then you readers have one week to work on your piece and finish it. Then, on the due date, you send them to the author. Then us authors have another week to read through and choose which pieces we wanna use, then put the fic together using your segments. Not everyone's idea's can be used, sorry.

Now, I should also bring to your attention that I have been using "us authors" and "we" a lot. Well, if this wacky idea is legit enough to most, I don't want this to be a "ROBCakeran53 exclusive" thing. No, I want other authors to follow this too. I feel, as an author, that this would not only give us a good challenge to write to, but give you all some attention in the only way us fic writers really can. By allowing you to essentially give us your small ideas, then we build a large fan made fic out of them. You all are writing about 80% of the fic!

Now, I don't have many "famous" authors that watch me (well, none really), but for the sake of the fandom I've decided to send this also into Equestria Daily. I'm not sure if they'll read it, throw it away, or not give a shit, but still I feel that this is a genuine and interesting way for the fan fic writers of the community to give something back to you readers.

Ok, so now that is all out of the way, I'm going to try and give the guidelines in a very simply manner, so here we go.

WORD COUNT

250 to 500 words, though if you are a few over/under I'm not gonna complain. Some authors might allow more, or even less.

Character(s)

The Author must choose which character(s) they are going to have this fic centered around. These characters specified cannot die or be removed from the fic unless done by the main author, while random characters added by the fans can be dealt with however the author wishes.

Guidelines

This is where the "special" rules for the fic go. Basically the mail plot and genera of the fic must be followed if given by the author. You can't make a clop fic piece if the author wishes it to be normal or sad.

Segment allowance

This is how many pieces the author will be accepting for their particular fan fic. While I highly suggest only 15 pieces and keeping it to a one shot, some authors might want to make it more of an epic fic. Multiple chapters and more pieces per chapter. That's entirely up to the author.

I think that is pretty much it. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please leave them below. If everything goes good, I plan to do this once ever couple months. I just find it a fun idea that allows me to interact with you all a little more, other than you just being my watchers and commenters. Well, I hope this idea works out, and that others too find it fun. Below will be my fic's regulations, and starting February 1st your one week will begin, then the following Wednesday you'll all send them in. That gives me a week to combine them, but I will, for the lulz, try to livestream my entire process making this for you all to watch and enjoy.

Oh, and one last thing(s). If you are an author that would wish to participate in this, let me know and I can start a list at the very bottom of this journal with your profile pic linked. And if you do the same for me in your own journal, then we can have a community thing going so that if someone doesn't wanna write for, say my idea, they can go to anothers. Plus, I will be making sure that I keep track of who's ideas I use and give them credit in the final product. Also if I use your segment in a fic, then I will not use yours in the next one to give others a chance at having their ideas incorporated. HAPPY FANFICING!

Have you heard of Star Wars: Uncut? This reminds me of that. It's pretty freaking awesome.
